Smart Goals
What are smart goals?
S.Significant, specific and stretching
M. Measurable, meaningful and motivational
A. Agreed Upon, attainable, achievable and acceptable and action orientated
R. Realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding and results-oriented
T. Time-based, time-bound, timely, tangible and trackable
My Goals
I think all of these goals definitely fit the S.M.A.R.T criteria.
1. Do Better In School(Get at least 80's)
I plan on getting at least over an 80% because last year my grades were in the 70's so this would be a good improvement. In order to improve my grades from a 70% to an 80% I could start doing 1 hour of either studying or doing work each day. With my strategy's of overcoming procrastination, I think that this would be possible. I think this is an S.M.A.R.T goal and I think it realistic and attainable.
2. Get A Job(Make a good cover letter an resume)
I want to get a job. In order to get my job I will be able to use the cover letter and resume I will make for this website and use that to apply for jobs. I think this goal definitely approves the S.M.A.R.T.
3. Exercise(Start doing at least 2 workouts a week)
Start doing two workouts a week to become more healthy. I will use the Overcoming Procrastination strategy's I have in order to make sure I do this.
4. Get better at playing the drums (Do 2 drum lessons a week)
I want to get better at playing the drums. I am signed up on a site called www.drumeo.com and they have lots of tutorials on how to play the drums. I want to watch at least 2 of these every week in order to get better at playing the drums. I will use the procrastination strategy's I have in order to make sure I get this done as well as all my other goals.
5. Read More(Read for 30 minutes a day)
If I read for 30 minutes a day I will achieve this.
How will I track my Goals?
To track my goals I can just check every week and see what kind of progress I have had towards my 5 goals. If I have not made the progress towards my goals and I can check why I didn't make progress on my goals and fix it.

Overcoming Procrastination
The link above is a PDF document that I downloaded and it has 20 really good strategy's to overcoming procrastination. I used lots of the strategy's that it had.
1. Minimizing Distractions
Minimizing distractions is a really good thing to do in order to get things done and avoid procrastination. For example, If I was studying for a test it would not be a very good idea to have my phone right next to me because if I got a notification then I would be distracted. Also If I was trying to get something done in class sitting next to someone I thought I was going to talk with would not be a smart idea.
2.Reward Yourself
This is a helpful thing to do if you want to get things done. It would be easier to start doing something if you there was some kind of reward after. For example I could give myself a chocolate bar once I am finished studying.
3. Managing Time
This is a really helpful tip in avoiding procrastination because if you have a set block of time when you want to get something done it is more likely that you would start doing what you wanted to do because you know you are supposed to be doing it.
Video's about overcoming Procrastination
I think this is a really cool video that describes setting goals. It talks about long term and short term goals and motivating yourself to acheive your goals even when you do not want to work towards them. It also talks about the S.M.A.R.T criteria and applying it to goals. Overall its a great video and helped me in setting my goals.

I chose this video because it is a really cool and interesting video about a strategy called the 321 strategy. Basically the strategy is really good for doing small things like taking out the trash or doing homework. I can definitely use this strategy in my life in order to overcome procrastination.
